“Noticing”

You will embed a series of moments of noticing in either video/sound/ photographic form collected during week 2 in response to what you set yourself to notice. List what you notice when looking/listening back to your media. Are there any similarities or patterns between your pieces of media? Upload this media into your Task One media folder in your Google Drive.

I chose to do 05 – 15-second videos on my ‘commute’ – whether this is on the tram, or walking. Usually, I am listening to music, zoning out to the world – due to this task, I was more attentive to my surroundings. This made me notice my usual routine – both at sunset and sunrise as well as the people on the tram (specifically those wearing summer attire during winter!). These clips are all similar – although they are taken on different days – they still represent the same theme. The light and change in colour were something that I wanted to capture with these clips – the texture of my surroundings (for example, the change in materials on the ground whilst I was walking – something that I don’t notice unless I am attentive) and how the light shifts during the day. This was taken over a two day period, to not only capture my commute, but also the change over time. The change in texture, light, and sound is something that I wanted to convey in my piece. I think my pieces, although they link, they also have differences – portraying that although my day to day activities was the same both of these days, they also have smaller differences in the mundane/normal activity (eg: my shoes, what I was wearing, the route etc.) – showing that my day actually varies, despite my normal inclination to think that it does not.
