“Noticing”

You will embed in a blog post all of the moments of noticing in either video/sound/photographs you and your pair collected in your locations. List what you notice when you play all of your media back. Are there any similarities or patterns between your pieces of media? Draw connection lines between similarities in your list to draw a map. What did your pair notice in your familiar environment? Was there anything they noticed, that you had not noticed before? Upload your media to your Task Two media folder in your Google Drive.

COLLABORATION – BRUNSWICK + HOZIER LANE

Lyreca and I collaborated on this task through the places of Brunswick and Hozier Lane, both known for their creative flair and design elements. Hozier Lane is known for its graffiti ladened walls, similar to the artsy designs that are expressed in Brunswick. The major difference is our intention of focus – although we still stuck to the same overarching theme, we developed different ideas from the places: for example, I decided to focus on the elements of movement – how I captured individuals moving through the place. I think this is contrasting Lyreca’s ideas as she decided to focus on the little details in Brunswick. I think people in Hozier Lane would be decided to focus on the details on the graffiti and the walls – however, I came with the intention to focus on the opposite. Lyreca captured the essence of Brunswick and why it is unique – the little details and the ideas (for example, the fabric in the design shop, the tram etc). We discussed the differences and similarities of our pieces and what our intentions were when going to film. A major point that we discussed was the intention. My intention whilst going to Hozier Lane was to capture the movement. Although I was originally expecting to capture the graffiti and tourism that is usually associated with Hozier Lane which was Lyreca’s original vision when going to Hozier Lane. Similarly, my ideas of Brunswick is the whole of the suburb as a whole. Lyreca revealed the smaller details that I usually do not notice on my way to work, or when I am there for a coffee/seeing friends.
