‘Hear Me Out’ – Loading Docs Documentary

I like the Loading Docs Documentary because it is allows an important story to be told in such a short amount of time. I can relate this to my documentary because I want to be able to conduct and tell my story in a similar time frame. The layout of the documentary is something that I want to explore as well, expressed through similar camera angles and layout. The gradient and tone of the piece is something that I admire and hope to show through my documentary as well. This film expresses a change in culture on something that has been around for a long time, which is also something that I want to show in my own film through the change in Australian culture and how it can be expressed in different mediums and through different stories. I enjoyed the balance of interview style segments as well as participatory elements that are expressed in the film, and this is something that I also want to gather for my own work, through inspiration from this documentary.

Furthermore, the camera work with wide shots and sweeping elements is engaging, which allowed me to think more about my filming techniques and how I want to film my final documentary. By having a range of camera angles, it allows the viewer to be further immersed in the documentary and care about the issue being addressed.
