Our two-minute audio teaser Channel 6 News Report for our main piece The Capitol Ghost follows four students’ visit to The Capitol Theatre in Melbourne’s CBD and is framed amongst an ominous news report and humorous exchange between the students. In developing this piece, we worked collaboratively on forming a script from a previous iteration of our main piece in pursuit of forming a satirical interaction which introduced our audience to the mystery of the space. Creating this piece allowed our group to explore another area of media production, one that we have often found we have not had a considerable chance to interact with in our studies so far – audio. Overall, creating this piece challenged us to push ourselves beyond producing a singular media product and to explore other new and unique ways to frame our work.

The Capitol Ghost

Our mini-documentary film The Capitol Ghost introduces the haunted nature of The Capitol Theatre and the stories which have been told regarding the alleged ghost’s interactions within the space through an interview with The Capitol’s operations manager. In producing this work, we divided our tasks in order to focus our attention on key aspects of the piece and collaborated on the editing process to produce our final work. Creating this documentary assisted our group in investigating the otherwise undocumented stories of The Capitol ghost.
