Remember that whole deal with SOPA?

I remember a while ago there was this whole deal with the ‘stop online piracy act’ that was used to attempt to essentially ‘censor’ the internet. Now that was the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. In my opinion I believe that the internet and the world wide web is probably the closest thing that humans will ever get to a sense full freedom. Although I think piracy isn’t necessarily a good thing, I don’t think that it makes that much of a big deal…although I wouldn’t know by looking, personally I think that if people really enjoy something they’d be more inclined to support it by purchasing a legit version. But then again there’s the discrepancy, for something such as music that’s so easy to download there’s no real point in buying it but at the same time I feel that it doesn’t effect the artists that much financially. There’ll always be people who’ll support the artists by purchasing their albums and there’ll always be companies that will be willing to pay the artist to use their song in a film or advertisement so financially I don’t think there’s a problem. However morally it’ll probably pose an issue considering that it’s basically ‘stealing’, but oh well, all in all piracy around the internet is sort of a grey area…
