Keyboard Shortcuts

The first keyboard function that I have never used before is “Group” (Cmd+G) and “Ungroup” (Shift+Cmd+G). I usually right clicked and choose this option rather than using the shortcut because I did not know that there is a shortcut for this. I used this function quite often because when I overlay my footages and audio I prefer to group them so that it will be easy to move it around the timeline. This is to prevent from missing out footages and audio when I drag or copy it in the timeline. I hope to use this shortcut in the future since it will be handy and fast to work with.

The next keyboard function that I have never used is “Apply Video/ Audio Transition” (Cmd+D/Shift+Cmd+D). I usually prefer to go through the long process of clicking the effects tab and scroll through the effects one by one. I will then see which transition suit well for the scene unlike using the shortcuts which gives you a default transition.

The third keyboard function that I never used would be “Marker” (M). The function for marker would be to mark the points that you want so that you can refer to the scenes that you want easily. I would usually mark in and out the scenes I want and dragged it to the timeline straight away. “Marker” is actually a useful tool to mark the parts that you want so that you would not forget and will not have the trouble to go through the whole footage again.

The reason why I don’t really use the shortcuts is because I don’t remember the keys. I will end up pressing other type of shortcuts. I should learn and get use to using the shortcuts so that it will make me edit faster instead of taking the time to search a tool or drag the footages around.
