After 1 year of collating ideas and putting it off, I’ve finally started writing a script for a short series/feature length project of mine.

I’ve spent my first (and probably last) year living in Melbourne by making my own works, learning from university and acting in professional roles in theatre and screen. Finally, I’ve built up enough creative motivation to fully visualise my own idea, honing particularly into my strengths. I’m writing a mockumentary, comedically stylised from shows such as Summer Heights High and Little Britain, that will be shot in my home town over the summer break. The plot surrounds a boy band who is at the top of international fame and is being followed by a documentary crew towards the lead up of their album launch. 2 days out, they are dropped from their label after an offensive incident and now have to rely on their own intuition to make themselves relevant again.

I plan on using what I’ve learnt, particularly from this course about documentary making, to lead my direction of this film. This will also hone in on my collaborative efforts to work with a team of 10 people.

Very exciting things ahead, lots of learning too…
