With the impending due date for the niki entries, I have reached a stale mate about which topic I should choose to hand in, so I thought I’d give a brief summary of my work so far and see what you guys think.
- David Weinberger:
Bio Summary: Weinberger is a speculative writer whose work is based on predicting how the internet will reshape the business to customer relationship, and how business’ should adapt the way they approach customers accordingly.
Niki Format: The entry will be set up to simulate a press conference with Weinberger during a promotion of an imagined new novel. Here Weinberger will reflect on his past work and consider if they have come to pass, including his seminal book ‘The Cluetrain Manifesto’
2. Bruce Sterling:
Bio Summary: Bruce Sterling is a science fiction writer. He is especially known for defining the cyberpunk genre.
Niki Format: As Sterling as created many complex worlds throughout his novels, our group’s idea is to create a narrative in which Sterling himself travels throughout these worlds.
3. Evgeny Morosov:
Bio Summary: Morosov is a conspiracy theorist who believes that the internet has been manipulated into a vehicle of propaganda. Morosov’s comments are quite cynical and filled with vitriol and quite often comments upon the security and privacy of the internet.
Niki Format: Our group decided to buy into Morosov’s claims and create a fake propaganda poster about Morosov, and posting tweets out of context, and essentially do all the things Morosov’s protests against in order to reaffirm his opinion about the web.
4. Siri:
Application Summary: A device of the Apple iPhone, which uses the web to answer questions and provide various other pieces of information which are picked up through voice command.
Niki Format: For Siri we are going to simulate a conversation with one can have with Siri on the iPhone asking her questions about her origins, her ‘father’ Steve Jobs and how she functions. We are also looking into a way of being able to use Siri’s iconic voice into our page.
