“W2 : A COLLECTION OF LIKE OBJECTS – “bicycles”

Melbourne has a well-developed public transportation system, but many people still choose to ride bicycles.

The area we discovered is between RMIT building 12 and QV, which is the heart of Melbourne and loads a huge population every day. You can see bicycles anywhere.

The bicycle is for any usages: delivering food or stuff, entertainment, exercising, travellers do short journeys, or send people to the work or the uni. We could see, bicycles have many functions, but are put anywhere. Some try to be arranged neatly, some are locked at the quiet corner, a few are locked random with stairs, even a few are just put on the ground.

When I shuttle between university and work, the “randomly putting bicycles” makes me ease. It shows the person who rides the bicycle is busy with the study and life as well, just like me. Even they don’t have the extra time to put bicycles properly. The random bicycles present the unknown people defend against the hard life with me together. Everyone is the ordinary people, everyone wants to catch up the rapid pace of life.

I would like to talk more about this picture.

There is a woman, a bicycle and a car in this picture and it means three different transportations, walking, bicycling and driving. Nowadays, due to the new technology, the options offered to humans are more and more, people can choose what they want, what they need.
