It was really awkward when we asked strangers if we can take photos of them. Actually, we were refused several times before we took the first picture. We realized the most of couples would not like to show themselves in front of the cameras, but single person or friends probably can accept it, in this way, we found our first target – three girls.

They accepted taking photos without any hesitation. During the shooting, they sat on the bench, smoking. We were very glad their acts were natural and they did not fear to face the camera at all, because we wanted to capture the natural facial expression. Girls are talking jokes, gossiping and laughing, just like we were currently not on set. The shooting went very quickly, we took several, but unfortunately, when we reviewed these pictures, we found two of us didn’t press shutter properly, some photos were not taken actually.

 

A next target is an old man sitting lonely and playing with his phone. He was a little bit shy and hesitated, but still, said yes. During the shooting, he always glanced at the camera and smiled awkwardly, also, tried to sit up straight. Thus, the facial expression and behaviours looked unnatural. After a while, he met some problems with his phone, while he asked help from a person, we took some snapshots.

The most impressed me was a girl who wears a colourful dress, has a delicate makeup. Such a great model, we all believed. She also did some poses to follow the shooting: reading books, tilting heads, holding the cheek, but these all looked natural and beautiful. In the end, she said she was very thankful that we took photos before getting her consent, and she felt respect.
