Other notes that I would like to add:

• Light: In the purpose of better presentation on the authenticity, and not to disturb the state of the protagonist and her guests, I will not use fill lights.
• Sound design: The sound effect under acceleration video is not useful, so the radio equipment will use the original iPhone native radio.
• Character expression: I may ask protagonist to introduce herself and introduce the woking meal (lunch).

All in all, this work may begin around 9 and end in mid-October, since there are many assignments I have to do.

– Challenge: challenging to device and me

The second aspect of my experimental video is that I will use the mobile phone to shoot under the full-length shot which makes people watch it from God’s perspective. Since the film needs to shot continuously, so I can’t make or answer phone calls and play games. Same time, l need to stay aside from my phone as much as possible. Under such a video length, this does not only require a high demand for equipment, but also a great challenge to my patience. However, the advantage of mobile phone shooting is that I can shoot while charging, no ever need to be afraid of sudden power failure. Different from the disadvantage that the camera needs to change the battery, the mobile phone can shoot continuously without suddenly shot down.

– Problem：Equal right and society

Next, I want to show to the audience. Although, this is an experimental video, I do not only wish that this work can reflect the experimental part but also use the are long time observation to show the real Chinese society where I live, where are rarely known by foreigners.

Nowadays, equal rights are developing globally. According to Lingui(2011), in Chinese traditional society, centralization and autocracy are the most prominent characteristics of the family power structure. After the founding of new China, modern women can go out and participate in social work. On the one hand, they have income and individual economic status, which to some extent get rid of the control of the patriarchal family (Lingui 2011). However, many people who are out of China may difficult to find a way to attach to the real latest family structure in China, even in the news, so they may misunderstand the equality of Chinese women’s status higher or lower than the normal average. Therefore, I should take this opportunity to show you how a rare female entrepreneur spent a day when a woman is the main income in a family unit in Chinese society.

The main character I specially invited my mother. Most of the time when she has a conversation in a business, there is about 90% of the people she talking with are men.

What： Experimental video

Time：One take（long-take）to shoot half a day into 1 hour video

First of all, this is the experimental video and it will show in the following aspects:
firstly, the video shooting length is half a day and with only one shot. I set the half-day as the 8 hours on a working day. This means that I promote the use of long shot to the rare extreme long shot (Xiyue 2010).

By studying the development process of film history, it can be found that the shooting method used in film works, in the beginning, was the long-shot. Referring to Xiruo (2017), she believes that people did not discover the advantages of long-shot when shooting at the time, but used it subconsciously.

The quality of documentary, foresight and the integrity of time and space are the characteristics of long-shot different from montage (Xiruo 2017). I am now challenging the montage which is commonly used by the film industry, so I think it is very meaningful.

After shooting, I will speed up the video and turn it into an one hour film without cutting. I will also slow down and subtitle some important parts.

I caught the opportunity last weekend I went out with my friends to shoot the music narrative vlog movie. As the combination from the last assignment and the element from activity, music and strong movement, this is kind a new try for me. Because the place was spacious, so I took a lot of full-length shots and with a lot of movement.

Long shot refers to the continuous performance of a moving picture for a long time (Guanghua 2008). The theory is opposite to the traditional montage theory, it not only brings a “new wave” in the film industry but also opens up a new field of film and television research. In the narrative perspective, the lens has different characteristics from the decomposable montage. At the same time, it also has its own characteristics of space-time structure (Guanghua 2008).

It’s inspired me that I want to do a day non-stop recording within one hour. The character could be my mom, the rare female entrepreneur in China. As an entrepreneur, she meets 90% or more males than females, but she shows the chance that women can also do the high standard job and even better than men.

The full length shot is a difficult try because the prepared plot needs to play with no NG, some of the shot is documentary kind, just recording people’s movement, that’s what I want to do.

All above are what makes full length shot difficult and unique, I think that is why a successful long shot is called a classical shot. Since I am using iPhone to shoot, I have to charge my phone for a whole day and without a hand up my phone. This is also a huge challenge for me, and I hope I can find some previous examples of this kind of film.

Activity 5.1

In workshop activity 5.1, mainly focus on Maya’s products. Referring to her products (Cited by James 2021), in the particular video that she climbs up a dead tree and then crawling on a table that she still there, I guess the table may be made by the wood, and so the frame can be linked up as kind of mental impression that people used to live with wood and now are using wood in another way. I have never tried this kind of style before so I want to explore. I bought a red bloom to present the pressure from my heart, and as well as I breathe in and breath out the bloom gets bigger and bigger, as well as the pressure gets bigger under the pandemic. Especially under the lockdown which challenged our mental health a lot.

In the case that I haven’t figured out what I want to shoot yet, I think that I might add such a stream of consciousness thing to express one self’s mind, in the purpose of making the emotion be more imageable, visible and artistic. but just like what I say I used red bloom, but the bright red may cause the uncanny which is something familiar and old-established in the mind and which has become alienated from it only through the process of repression (James, T 2021).
