Rachel Wilson – Studio Leader
Our experience of space and place is increasingly mediated. From the near ubiquitous use of google maps to way find through space, to the complex and highly imaginative game worlds we experience entirely via our computer screens, we use many media and multiple platforms to interact with and represent the space and place we inhabit.
It has been my pleasure to take this studio. Using RMIT’s historical buildings as our starting point we have examined how place is conceptualised and represented in many forms across a range of media and how these are applied in a variety of contexts such as galleries, museums, archives and augmented maps.
We hope you like the range of work the students have created and find the ghosts we have uncovered as fascinating as we have.
