The World of Podcasting // A N O D E T O N-P-R

Anybody who knows me well, will know that I am an avid podcaster! It began when my dad was living in California, and his young colleagues introduced me to ‘This American Life’ podcasts, ever since I have been unconditionally infatuated with anything produced by NPR.

This American Life, Serial and  Snap Judgement have always been my go-to’s and their most recent podcast, Invisibilia, produced by Lulu Miller and Alix Spiegel does not disappoint. The podcast analyses the invisible forces which make humans humans, a seemingly ambiguous topic comes together magically with the help of various concepts being pulled apart by differing psychologists, psycho analysts and professors alongside personal anecdotes and stories told by listeners and friends.

After churning through all seven episodes I have began re-listening to the all consuming podcasts with an observational mindset, Media is everywhere, the words drilled into us in the first weeks of the course now echo in my head as I listen to The secret history of thoughts. I am now consciously attempting to understand what it is that I am gaining from the podcast and why I am so infatuated with their work. (With even more respect for NPR as every week I gain more insight into the amount of work that must be implemented into the 57 minutes of talking that I listen to daily, especially after using that ridiculous voice recorder)
