Habitual Immersion

This media work explores the idea of finding comfort within ‘the everyday’ and how it is able to manifest differently in various mediums. We have each chosen different ways of addressing how experiences, objects, and activities in our everyday lives allow us to find a respite from the world around us, offering us comfort and peace. This exhibition is dedicated to the simple details of living, and what they mean for us, both as media practitioners and as human beings. A variety of mediums were employed to express the individuality of each practitioner and their view of ‘the everyday’, as well as functioning as a sort of dialogue between us. Ultimately, what we are attempting to address is the feeling of comfort in everyday life and how these feelings defer between people.

“This piece is centred around two things I encounter everyday that, whether consciously or subconsciously,  are able to bring a sense of comfort into my life. It explores the pairing of these two elements in an unconventional way and highlights how comfort can be found in something that’s personal, as well as something more universal.”
