  1. How did you author (the photo or video) you recorded for upload to Instagram?

This video was authored by my Iphone 7+, with a back camera, when I just left editing suite in RMIT Building 9 and was about to get out of the building. I remembered first time I saw this door, I thought it was just a glass window until someone walked in. That was why I thought I should record and post this unforgettable door.

The door is made of glass and there is no handle attached to it. There is no obvious sign that shows itself as a door except an exit button at the side wall.

I moved my body and my hands around in order to get the right angle, but the height of the door made it a bit tricky for me to do so, especially in a square format. I pushed an exit button and recorded the door when it was closing. Fortunately, it was already almost midnight, therefore, there were no people walking in and out.

The image was not applied any filter to it because I could not find a good filter for this video. The difference between Instagram filters and other photo apps filters is a limit option for me to choose. Half of filters provided by Instagram are warm tones, but the video itself was already in a yellowish tone. Besides, other filters were not aesthetically appeasing to me.

2. How did you publish (the photo or video) you recorded for upload to Instagram?

To publish this video, it took me two attempts. At first, I tried to record when the door was opening, but it was a failed attempt due to my shaky hand and a terrible angle. Besides, I needed to push an exit button to open the door, therefore, I could not really capture it when I stood too close to the object. Thus, I pushed an exit button, moved a little further away, then recorded when the door was closing. I did not put any text caption to the video but I added a few hashtags #door #glass #rmit #melbourne which all related to my video. Moreover, I also geo-tagged the location RMIT University along with the post.

3. How did you distribute (the photo or video) you published on Instagram to other social media services?

By distributing this video, I continued sharing it to my Tumblr and Twitter as I did share my previous posts.
