#12 Lectorial

This week we were focussing more on wrapping up the entire course, considering how it was our very last lectorial.

We were instructed to construct a graph to track our progress throughout the course.

There were four lines to represent four things:

  1. Technical Skills, which i understand to be how familiar we are we the equipment and programmes we used in all our projects ( eg. Microphones, Cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro/ Audition )
  2. Conceptual Skills, which i understand to be how we progressed in terms of narrative or story telling skills and being able to conduct proper academic research/be aware and understand it
  3. Ways of working, which i understand to be how we work with others in groups as well as the ability to take in constructive criticism
  4. Practice, which i understand to be how well we incorporate or be aware of the media surrounding us in everyday life and how we choose to express and practice these ideas

The dark blue line represents (1), the orange (2), the light blue (3), the brown (4)

  1. Coming into this course, i’ve had prior knowledge in Premiere Pro and that’s why my line starts off a little up and remains stagnant for a while. When we started learning sound and such, was when my line started going upwards. I learnt how to use the equipment but somewhere in the middle i lost my flow of things and lagged behind, especially when we were all first trying to figure out Audition. Then after watching my friends edit and such, i kinda got my rhythm back and that’s why it ends in a line.
  2. Throughout the course, i think i managed to learn how to tell story in terms of arranging how things should flow and managing the structure of a piece. For instance in my PB3, i had an introduction of my talent then a background story, then a climax and a resolution, the video has an open ended ending which allows for the audience to complete the story
  3. I think I’ve managed to get a hang of how everything on wordpress works, and i’m generally pretty alright in group projects generally. I try to sort conflict out as soon as possible but thank goodness my group didn’t have any problems
  4. With the incorporation of the blogs in our coursework- it improved the way i expressed my skills and practice my craft. I’m also well aware of the different forms of media around me, i pay attention to different sounds i hear on the train and think of how i can add that into a podcast or try to imagine it as a sick sound effect.

Generally i think i did pretty okay throughtout and i’ve learnt a whole lot. Very excited for media 2!
