Filming Day

We decided that despite multiple locations in multiple suburbs with lots of equipment and props we could film it all in one day. WHAT A LONG DAY THAT WAS.

We started by meeting at RMIT to pick up equipment, two DSLR’s and a Dedo lighting kit (those are really heavy it turns out!!). We also had with us props for later in the day and some speakers for playing the song so Conor could sing along while being filmed. After that, a tram ride to Conors house to film footage we ended up cutting. From there to Footscray to film in the streets and in the $2 stores which Footscray has so many of. A problem we knew we’d encounter was suspicious shop owners, especially due to the language barrier often present in Footscray. To help with this we brought a long a friend to help out for the day (the girls with the two buns in the video) who also spoke Vietnamese and could help us communicate our intentions with a little more ease. We also used our time in these stores to pick up some more props we found along the way. Regardless most of them turned us down saying they were too busy (with all 5 customers) and we couldn’t do it. However some let quickly do our thing resulting in some footage we were quite happy with. Conor also suggested we check our the rooftop car-park of Footscray market which resulted in some unplanned but excellent footage.
From there it was back to Conors for a quick recovery sit/nap. After this is was completed we moved to Yarraville so film the sequences of  Conor walking home with all his party equipment, which had really accumulated over the day.

to be continued.
