test shots from jade on Vimeo.

trying to find a location that fits with our concept was a long and tedious process. I had been to macedon numerous times, for wedding and fashion photoshoots and was confident in the location. We discussed shooting in Yarraville area but no one had been to all the locations we found online. I had been to one of those locations but there was literally nothing more than a bridge there. We made the mistake of assuming they were all nearby, until we googled them and realised the locations were one hour a part. This would be a major inconvenience, as we would travel an extra hour for one ten second shot. I suggested Macedon, as I knew that it had everything that we needed there. Daleen and I were free, so we made the drive to Macedon and was studden by how much more we found. The sun would come out every now and then, making some of our shots at the lake look stunning. It looks as though some scenes were shot on separate days, as the clouds were really dark in some shots.

It didn’t take us long to realise that we definitely needed to use a zoom mic for atmos and capture the beautiful sound scape of nature. We found it difficult to shoot some moving images, as we obviously did not have a stabiliser. For the real shoot, we have an idea to shoot her running in the woods and we have to think of a way to do so. Even as I very slowly and carefully moved the camera down, to capture names written on the tree, as I stabilised it on premiere pro, the video was effected by shakiness. I also learnt that sometimes its important to trust in your abilities. Both Daleen and I were stressed going into this, as we thought we didnt have enough practice shooting but the way in which we remember how to do things, especially since we are so exposed to it, reflects in our test shots. We did however struggle with directing my friend, as we are yet to decide on a script. Storyboarding is key and the most important thing we should be doing next.
