My previous experience with research came in handy this week as I began my research for the annotated bibliography exercise. I typed library on the search bar and was automatically directed to the unimelb library and I exited that tab before I was haunted by the memory of hours i spent slaving over that webiste. As i re entered rmit library in the  search bar, I told myself that this was a new beginning and I had to forget my past experience with research. The skills I acquired were useful as I found sources directly related to institutions and media. As far as research goes, my progress has been slow as i find myself confused with the topic. Institutions is dauntingly broad and there is so much that could be done. Brian came around to our groups and helped us tackle the topic. His direction was very useful and as a group we know which direction we are headed in. We decided that as an Institution we are most interested in Cinema and hence we have narrowed down our research. I have decided to look into the historic elements of Cinema and how Hollywood came about to become its own industry. We also discussed how cinema goers dictate how cinema changes, people not liking a particular genre or boycotting a film. Whether or not a film succeeds is determined by public opinion so Cinema as an institution depends of an audience. I recall from a previos subject I took that Hollywood became this global phenomena during World War 2. While most countries were in the midst of war, American cinema became popular since countries in war were not producing any films or shows. I am interested to see how my group and I battle this topic… Updates coming soon
