Group work… some of your best experiences at university will happen in your group tasks.  But, also some of the worst and most stressful moments will occur as a result of group work.  So, do the pros outweighs the cons?

Bad:

  • Uneven work
  • Project fails as no one takes responsibility of it
  • Reliant on other people that let you down
  • Project lacks unity
  • Uncomfortable expressing thoughts
  • Outnumbered- gender, age etc.
  • Can’t compromise

Good:

  • Shared ideas
  • Inspiring each other
  • Being able to compare idea
  • Having a support system
  • Elevates your drive- responsibilities beyond yourself
  • Shared workload

Well, the good looks really good but the bad looks pretty bad– However, in today’s workforce, employers are looking for employability skills in team work and being able to be a collaborative, supportive person… So, really you have no choice but to suck it up and increase your team work skills.
