Politically Confused

In the lead up to the most anticipated election in our nation’s political history, I am left confused as to where to cast my vote.

This will be my first federal election (the 2010 election was held just 3 days before my 18th birthday!!), and after months of intense media debate my conflict is struggling to settle.

Neither leader inspires confidence, nor has provided adequate or transparent policies.

In sitting down to watch Sunday night’s first leader debate, I was hoping to lay my uncertainty to rest. However, again both leaders left me disillusioned.

With Rudd not straying far from his illegally prepared notes, he portrayed merely a front man with an inability to think on his feet.

Abbott on the other hand – whilst I do believe held his ground far greater than the Prime Minister – was awkwardly mannered and reassured his position as a right-wing conservative unable to adapt.

There seems to be not a huge point of difference between the parties, but nor do I feel we cannot look to the minor parties such as the Greens who have been overpowered, and inept to run alongside the majors.

With just 3 weeks to go, I am struggling to cipher through the exorbitant amount of news articles and rationalise my own vote. What to do?
