Take Away #2.

‘What is Creative Commons?’

I wont lie to you, i was very excited to see a reading without pages of writing and rather in the form of a video. I feel that if i were to read the narrators script, i wouldn’t have understood his intentions as well as i have watching it visually, which is a reason why the visual image is so powerful. This ‘watching’ (my attempt of humour) covers the basics of what creative commons does and its protection of digital content, allowing others to use your original work, but always ensuring that the artist is credited. What is beneficial about creative commons is the diversity of licenses available for protection of your content, allowing the individual to monitor the amount of freedom they want the public to have when using their digital content.

‘Blogs and the law’

Although, i will admit, this subject matter is not as interesting as the first reading, it does highlight the importances behind blog posting on any medium, that everyone should have at least brief knowledge of. This may seem idiotic but i don’t think sometimes as i never knew that on this blog i am creating copyright protected material, which is comforting. However, i didn’t think to check whether works that i want to display on my blog are copyrighted, and if so, i must obtain the copyright owners permission, which is good to know for the future, keeping me out of trouble.
