Using the recording equipment was fun to figure out, and the process of selecting and capturing the desired sound gave an insight as to how to collect sound for our briefs.

One of the problems we encountered was capturing a pure sound, without interference from background noise. Given the circumstances of a busy city atmosphere, we had to accept the quality of our recordings for what it was.

The most successful recording was the footsteps we captured, as we could easily hold the microphone in close for a clear sound without capturing too much interference.

We learned to manage the distance that the mic should be held from certain sources to improve the quality, such as distant talking and close conversation, as to have either disproportionate contributions of sound in the former and even contributions to sound in the latter.
