while the whole movie was typically sascha baron cohen offensive, inappropriate and dumb, this opening scene really made me laugh.
the hiv aladeen part was fantastic. the way the patient’s face changed hahaha. my brother and i laugh about it at least once a week. and when he was running the race and shooting people, that was great too.

thinking about it deeper though, it’s sad that we do find this funny. it’s sad that there’s a movie made around this culture who are so notorious for their gun use, mistreatment of women and overall war theme attached to them. in some ways, you can very, very, very loosely say that the film’s a social commentary, but really it’s just sad that we have these connotations and generalisations.
