Week 8: Studio Pitches

In the week 8 workshop we presented our studio pitches. The feedback that I got included –

  • Thinking about the audience reaction- will I show a rough cut and receive feedback as I go or will I consider this at the final stage.
  • Continue to think through the audio-visual relationships

The feedback helped with the direction of both of my videos. I decided to in some ways combine the filming of the two projects, by using similar footage between the two pieces. This would also enable me to focus more on the editing and sound and so that I am not rushing to finish this at the end. It also gave me the idea to come up with a theme for Project 2 of outdoor/nature footage and remove the idea initially of doing indoor and other lighting ideas. This would help as it means that the piece is not just random videos put together with no obvious connection between them. It also reminded me to keep thinking about why I chose these shots or why I was going to edit the footage a certain way and link it to the planning and research that I started initially. I might also continue to work out if there are other aspects of immersion that I could include now to enhance my pieces.
