Project Brief 1: Reflection

With Project Brief One I wanted to reflect my interests, passions and what makes me who I am. I found that a majority of posts reflected interests or hobbies, which isn’t necessarily a negative as this makes up a large part of who I am. When selecting what to put in each post I tried to move away from general posts that don’t really relate to me at all, as early on I did start to take some photos and videos that were easy to take but were not really a part of my identity. I thought it was also important to try and not be too obvious especially with my photos and tried to find materials that had multiple meanings to my identity.

I think overall I was able to achieve the aim of communicating something about myself through the different forms of media (photo, audio, video, text).

My photos were successful as they were able to reflect my interests and the things that I enjoy doing, which is a large part of my identity. If I were to do this differently next time I might have been more specific or take more abstract photos as some of them were quite literal.

I think the audio was also successful in representing myself, especially with the train audio as I take the train every day. I might have tried to use more different and unique sounds however to replace the recording of the book as it did communicate who I was but it might have been too simple.

With the video I tried to pick different ideas to the photos and audio. However, I might have done it better in a way that related to me on a more personal level, similar to the video of my dog, or try and go for more abstract and unique ways of communicating that.

Text was probably the hardest one as I was not entirely sure how to go about it and ended up describing myself in the end. This approach however was able to communicate who I was, albeit I found that I started to repeat what I had already done in previous posts. Next time I probably would have tried to do something more creative and different that would have reflected my identity in a more meaningful way.
