Editing #3 | Sacred Place

Today is our final day of editing. Spending over 5 hours in suite 17 we have made some changes to our structure and made a fair amount of tweaks and final touches. We decided to take out the Alice in Wonderland footage as it felt a bit awkward and out of place, even though it felt relevant and a good idea initially. The introduction is one of my favourite sections of the video and turned out exactly how we all pictured it. The final clip of the fade in and overlapping of online videos and audio as the Skype call footage scales down and merges in with all the other clips turned out exactly how I had imagined it. It’s a strong and chaotic ending to the video, a big contrast to the opening of the video which was dark and quiet. After colour grading and finally exporting, the video is complete and ready to be presented.

While Indri and I were finishing off the last few edits, Isobel put together our paragraph for the exhibition:

“The online world can also work as a private space, creating opportunity for more introverted individuals to express themselves with a higher level of confidence and self-esteem as their identity is able to be anonymised. Through light being purely ejected from the laptop screen in amongst the extremely dark surroundings, we are aiming to visually display how although one can be alone in their own private space online with the liberty for expression, they still technically remain in a public space due to the vast accessibility that arises with the internet today. We are aiming to create content that young adults of this current generation can resonate with being so constantly involved with the online world in their own ways”
