French Cinema *sigh*

One of my favourite movies of this year by far. It is really nice to go out and see some foreign films because they do things differently to much of western cinema. Especially the french. They sure to love mental subjectivity and a touch of fantasy. In the case of this film Gondry explores terminal illness through a semi-animated, fantasy-filled, visually beautiful film. It almost appears in the beginning as a children’s film with bright colours, interesting characters and a small house mouse who helps out around the house.

Chock block full of whimsy and bizarre situations which exist only within the fantasy world Gondry had created. The film begins in full colour and ends in black and white. The house fades with the wife and nothing is as expected. I don’t want to say too much for those who haven’t seen it and so this post is mostly a recommendation. I highly recommend you shuffle down to a cinema that is showing it and buckle down who a really enjoyable cinematic experience.
