This trailer here is why I make films! For their sheer creativity and ability to reinvent. From the moment that string quartet kicks in and sings along to “Smells like Teen Spirit” It gives a sense of movement and foreshadows purer beginnings before what it turned into. Much the same as Cobain himself. This artistic expression is what is important to me. His quote of saying “I was an underdeveloped, immature little dude that never got laid, ooooh poor little kid.” and the the sound of a rushing train like “LETS DO THIS!” the sound of the train is powerful as it highlights what Kurt is saying because he isn’t doing it himself, he’s talking in quite a mundane way. This trailer demonstrates the evolution from child into this musical monster bent on destruction. And it begs to ask the question….why?
Of course i know that this is only a trailer, but is a trailer is well constructed at least the film has one thing going for it. Oh…and the idea of mixing in animation into an interview documentary to illustrate V/O’s from Kurt himself? Pure genius! Give that man a Medal! Excuse me while i watch this another 100 times!
