Wk: #7 – The First Step into Network

In terms of Watt’s opening page, why do we call network as network? It looks a bit stupid but I really devote into the meaning behind it. Where does this word come from? What is the inspiration?

In the way, we are always connected by network but we hardly find out when, where and how we became connected. The structure of network basically is a point by point. In the level of art perspective, points, lines and planes contribute to one image that what we think it is beautiful. In the same way, the structure of network is constructed by spots. Every spots more or less connecting directly or indirectly is offering a devastating power to network. The powerful energy is created ourselves to produce the huge impact to the world.

The very interesting point from Watt’s view is the electronic power with which a modern world is running. We can charge our iPhone or laptop whenever we want but we cannot build up a giant battery to keep the city alive because we, so far, do not have good enough technologies to keep  such a big amount of electron that give the power to light up the city. What can we do now? The engineers take advantage of the idea of network with the tube as line that connects city as a spot, therefore, the structure of electronic network is dynamic! The power keeps transferring between city and city, the entire America, in this way, is a battery as same as the theory of internet network. The power is from ourselves!
