On week 3 we mainly focused on the editing of the shots we did on week 2. I have used premiere before, but I have never been taught to organize the footage before going into edit. In the future we are going to do more exercises, so we are supposed to have more footage, which would easily drive us crazy if we didn’t make it organized.

One problem of this editing exercise is that our group didn’t record the synchronous audio when we were shooting. Therefore when I was editing, I was struggling with the audio. At last, I have no alternative but to use the noise of the parade as background sound, in order to create a contrast with the quiet shots.

The same problem happend to the first exercise this week. We didn’t record the synchronous audio again since all of us were going to put music in the video instead. But when I was editing I found that there would be more possibilities of the edit if I had synchronous audio.

From these two exercises I learnt that regardless of whether you are going to use the audio or not, you’d better record the synchronous sound in case.

Another problem I found in my first exercise is the camera shake. I was going to investigate the tracking shot, but I found that it was hard to hold the camera steadily all the way. When I looked through the footage at the edit suite, I felt dizzy because of the camera shake. I really want to learn some techniques of tracking shot.

In addition, I am also looking forward to the grading tutorial in the future.
