The BB bonanza

Last week, Big Brother got 932,000 viewers, beating the annual iconic Brownlow medal broadcast. I was one of those 932,000 and i’m not ashamed to admit that. I wouldn’t vote but I do enjoy my daily dose of BB gossip at 7pm each night. So too do many other Australians, it seems. For me, it’s not necessarily Big Brother that draws me in. It’s simply because many of my favourite shows are reality. I don’t mean X Factor, Masterchef- no thankyou..I mean REALITY. A.k.a watching people’s lives. I don’t know whyyyyy- but I love it. The Hills, Made in Chelsea, Jersey Shore– all 100% trash tv, yet so addictive. What is it about watching others live there day-to-day lives that makes it so interesting to watch? Well, The Hills there’s always drama. Made in Chelsea there is the fashion. Jersey Shore there is the partying. Big Brother I think I like because it is Australians so I think I can relate a little bit more. Now that I think more about it, it makes sense. Everyone loves a little bit of drama or gossip, but not necessarily when it involes you and your friends or family. With reality tv, we get to watch OTHER people’s scandals and at the end of the day, (sorry, episode) it’s all going to be ok.
