  1. Just like the first sentecne in this article, when we discuss Russian filmmakers, Andrei Tarkovsky and Sergei Eisenstein are always the first to think of. However, we usually ignore Vsevolod Pudovkin’s name and his contribution on film editing and montage. His editing style is quite different from Eisenstein and as the author suggests, ‘that (Pudovkin’s theory) formed the foundation of the classic Hollywood style of editing, which is used in almost every film today’. It is very similar with the countinious editing we talks about today. In addition, the author also refers to Pudovkin’s 5 editing techniques, which are contrast, parallelism, symbolism, simultaneity, and leit motif and uses a video to introduce them. In sum, it is a great source to get start for studying Pudovkin’s Montage theory.
