We examine the influence these new platforms have brought to film experience through the analyses of digital film editing and DVD technology. As a result, digital montage, also know as the effect of composition makes us to go further into its effects on conventional methods of film style. It has been argued that digitization has made the film industry suffered due to the anxiety stemming from the new technology.

    Rewind in videotape and DVD provides advantage of creating puzzle film for some filmmakers. As Internet is developing into a big medium platform and our expectation on variation of narrative form make short film bloom online. Theatrical film has been extended due to the embedding of video games, according to that viewers’ experience and understanding of the plot has been reshaped. Integrating of brands has also appeared. Different distribution and exhibition have influences on filmmaker’s decision on style. Within a large venues owes a screen of 50 feet wide and 1500 viewers, a tight-close-up would be very powerful. However with embedding of television culture in 1960s, filmmaker began to reply on close-ups in TV. When movies are shown on television, the composition is changed and the image got cropped. As a result, filmmakers highlight the key action by composing their shots to fit snugly on television screen. DVD vision is usually letterboxed. However some director insists using the full frame in order not to ruin the composition. In conclusion, distribution and exhibition constrained filmmakers’ choices in some degree. However it will gets expanded in video vision.
