The Future of Television: The Growing Power of Users

This research project aims to question the development in other media industries through remediation over the years and how users will affect the future of the television industry.

By breaking down our research question into four segments, we aim to explore more thoroughly:

History: How have other mediums been remediated so far and how can we apply this to television? How has television been remediated so far and given the changes in other mediums, what can we predict?

Audiences: Are we active or inactive as viewers? With the introduction of social media platforms, how does this hinder or aid our interaction with television? How have our viewing habits changed? Why have they changed- is it because of us as a society? Or because technology is taking over?

Social/Cultural/Political: How do these factors affect changes in television? Addressing political bias, stakeholders, piracy, file-sharing

Predictions: Given what we have explored, what can we predict for the future of television and how it will progress through future changes?
