Reflecting on my semester 

Review the Week 1 blog post where you outlined your goals for this unit. & Did you meet them?

-I’d like to learn more media production skills, e.g. film skills, devising skills, producing skills and editing skills.

Yes and I learn some editing skills by myself, but the colour grading skill need to be improved.

-Improving the ability to coordinate with others, especially working in small groups during the second half of the semester.

Yes, I did a pretty good job on cooperating with others, we had a great time.

–I would also like to know more about how non- fiction materials can be arranged for different results and audiences.

I am still not good at it.

–How we use the media production skills to tell the non-fiction story properly, and how we engage in non-fiction media making with contemporary applications.

Partly yes.   I did much better in telling the non-fiction story by using media production skills than before, but I still need to learn more.

I know more about how to make a non-fiction media with contemporary applications now.

 

What challenges did you experience? & How did you overcome them?

I can tell a story with a convincing way now,  but the way I talk about a story is a little bit boring, not interesting, not impressive, the key reason I believe is I don’t have enough fancy ideas. I need to watch more movies to inspire my thoughts. Also, another thing I need to care about is, in my work,  what talent speaks is more than what frame shows. I mean for some information if I use frames to show which is better than using words. In the final film, B-roll is obviously not enough, and we want to show much information, so the interviewer’s part is pretty long.

 

What did you learn along the way?

I learn so much.

I learn the different type of documentary.

I learn how to make one with contemporary  applications.

I learn how to do the interview, how to interview the people you don’t know, how to ask questions.

I lean media production skill, the film skill, the production skill and the editing skill.

I learn how to photography and how to do the photo essay.
