Finally… the last project began [W]

Here comes to the third month of my Uni life, meeting new friends, joining quite a lot of activities (especially RMITV movie nights), with just realised that I had done 3 projects so far (and being a part-time promoter of RMIT by using an interviewing video haha).

From the end of this week’s lecture about collaboration, we had been informed that the last project has to be present in the sound-form, as well as forming a 3-members team randomly in class, feeling pretty nervous about my first time collaborating with relatively ‘strange’ classmates, even though we might have been in the same group of homework sharing session before, and even though I had experiences on using audio recorder and audio editing software (Audition & Pro tools) before in my Sound Design elective.

Again, the workshop was started with reviewing classmates interviewing videos, a time for exchanging ideas and filming /editing skills I guess, although many of them had less experience of video-making, us who have more on it could still learn from their creative thoughts, and meaningful interviewing topic, such as transgender, or using a photo album as the link of each part of the story.

By using Post-it to form groups carefully to make sure that we would be unfamiliar to our group mates, I had got Cinzia and Bharam as my new friends on Facebook. The first step of knowing each other, would be the basic information, right? Where they came from, their contextual stream and what elective they’re doing right now, with signing a form called Collaborative Contract together simultaneously (Cinzia had left as having an important meeting). Then, straightly move to discussing and brainstorming our project topic, since next class would be the due date the group Annotated Bibliography, our first ‘checkpoint’. As two of us were totally having no idea what we are going to research in the following week, the first discussion between two introvert person was… Getting the first concept by blindly searching important keywords like ‘media attention’ and ‘internet attention’, so on, and writing them down on the kraft paper which larger than the A3 size.

Finally, we decided to have a more serious chatting (online or offline) this week because of failed to make a conclusion before the beginning of sound recording exercise, that giving each of us a chance to familiar with the Zoom H2N recorder (I had only got in touch with the H4N before), to record a casual interview in a quieter place around campus. However, we had only done the ‘formal’ one, as using quite a lot of time finding an appropriate location, where came to the new Media Precinct eventually.
