How did you author the photo you recorded for upload to Instagram?
This week is the last week of good or bad design shooting. I am still stuck at home and can’t move around, so I always find objects that can be photographed from my apartment. With the popularity of Thunderbolt 3 interface, the file transfer speed has been brought to a whole new level. The high-speed card reader that supports the thunderbolt protocol brings even higher efficiency. Considering the need to maintain the consistency of the Instagram gallery style, I used the same lighting method as all previous shots-turn off all light sources and used an LED panel to light from the side of the screen. As Manovich said in an article published on Kinfolk, the current social media is straightforward to set off a brand-new aesthetic wave. I was also profoundly affected by it unconsciously for three weeks. I put a black velvet cloth under the subject as the background to make the picture more advanced and keep my simple, cold and consistent style. When shooting, I still used the Samsung s10 plus 50mm human eye focal length, which is the best choice for shooting still life or social photography. When the light hits from one side, the metal side of the card reader will reflect light. I must adjust the relative metering point to make the picture not overexposed or underexposed. This is due to the problem of the tolerance of the phone’s CMOS is too small. This is why I am very persistent in turning off all light sources and replacing them with controllable photography LEDs.
When I edited the photos, I realized that the images straight out of the phone are already very good, and I don’t need to over-colour. In Instagram, I chose the Lo-FI filter parameter to be adjusted to 70, just like all previous photos, only to maintain the inertia of the photo style.
How did you publish the photo you recorded for upload to Instagram?
At the time of the shooting, after arranging the light, I shot all kinds of composition from the middle scene to the close-up, centre line, guideline and other methods, about 12 photos. Although they all maintain a high degree of consistency, they have the same style as the videos and pictures taken in the past few weeks, so this makes me feel very difficult to choose. But compared to sharing rigorous photographs, Instagram is a platform that focuses on allowing people to communicate and share various information (Manovich, 2016,pp.41). So the two photos I chose finally took into account the information display and composition aesthetics. The first photo can show the audience the working mode, brand and specifications of the reader, and the second photo tells people that this is a support type -c card reader is more popular with Apple users.
At the time of publishing, I wrote a description of Speeeeed up with SanDisk EXTREME Pro UHS-II and added #gooddesign #typec #sandisk #videography #technology these tags to make my photos more dynamic. In all previous Instagram posts, my description is based on light and simple words, focusing on people’s primary focus on photos and the product itself. In this description, I added an emotion. Because the transmission speed of card readers has limited photographers for many years, the emergence of such a faster card reader is naturally fascinating and cheering.
How did you distribute the photo you recorded for upload to Instagram?
At the time of publishing, I also shared this post to my Twitter account, because my good or bad posts are for people who are related to digital technology and photography, so my user viscosity should be stable in the long run. I added tags # typec #sandisk #videography #technology as much as possible to distribute to the same designated audience as before, such as photographers and technology enthusiasts, and also tap and distribute to some potential audiences. For example, all Apple products and some PCs will start to use the type-c Thunderbolt interface in 2020. But most products are still using the USB interface at present without taking into account the experience of this group of people. So the post of such a product can be easily distributed to a certain audience to a certain extent.
