The example of the Kony2012 viral mass following in relation to validity is an interesting one, as the campaign itself had zero validity and no financial credibility for their programs, but on the other hand, it was ‘valid’ in the way it raised the profile of Uganda and millions of people now know something about the struggle for human rights there, embedded with authenticity and investigated from a position of knowledge and legitimate expertise.

The viral video and mass following followed by the dramatised facts and questionable legitimacy of the Kony2012 campaign are indicators that the media cycle can validate issues of mass importance- like a network literacy peer pressure, and we have to cross-check with a reputable source such as legitimate newsgroups, Wikipedia (the collaborative truth) or, more traditionally,  our educated brains-Logic usually delivers.
