Week 6 Reflection / Problems

So this week was all about our submitting of our first K-Film (you can find mine here)

So it seems like I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed their experience with Korsakow, but I have to admit, that I do think that was largely affected by the using of only two keywords (it does make things ALOT less complicated and easier to mind map/plan).
Looking at my videos, I wasn’t struck by noticing that most of my videos were inside or outside, or if they were filmed at night or during the day, but rather I found that there was something in those videos that really appealed to me – some even creating the urge to write about them – or a story that they invoked within (thus the writer inside of me appears).

I have to admit that I did spend some time on my videos, wanting them to look appealing and actually say something – relate to what they were supposed to. Because of this, I wanted my film to mean something – to say something – despite the criteria not requiring the film to have a statement behind it.

So, I did what was probably procrastinating at first, and sat down and wrote a sentence relating to me (and to the video).  After doing this for all videos, I took a step back and decided that this film would be autobiographical.
I know that within integrated media we are looking at non linear narratives. I am more than willing to take on this notion – it’s not that I don’t understand it or reject it, I just find that because of the writer and reader within me, it is hard to shake the traditional narrative concept.
Because of this, I made the decision to give my film a beginning and an end. My beginning clip sets up the scene – gives the audience a direction of where the film will be going. While the middle of the film is completely up to the viewer, no matter where they end, a concluding clip will play. The OCD within me couldn’t allow my film to go without a conclusion – I needed to explain what it meant.  I NEEDED IT!!! (Yeah, insane).

But I will not tell people the keywords. Not on here anyway. Everyone will get something different out of it, no matter what I tell them. And that’s okay. I made it for me, and I know what I was chasing.
