Thinking in Fragments #4 – Project Work

The project that my group did for the last assignment was continuing and could also be said to be a development from the previous production, because in the last production, we still explored the theme of isolation and utilised Korsakow software. In fact, the changes that my group made was within the perspective of how we portray the feeling of isolation from the subject, because for this project, we made three different perspectives of portraying how it feels to be isolated within three different scenarios. We decided to create three different perspectives because we aimed the audience to experience and see the contrast of the reality and the mind of the subject who was appeared to be isolated.

The first perspective would portray what the subject sees and the audio would reflect the feeling of the subject. This particular perspective would portray what the subject is doing, recreating a VR-like experience and using ‘I’ within the audio as a way for the audience to reflect themselves as the subject of the production. On the other hand, the second perspective would portray the reflection of what is like to be isolated for the subject, including the feeling of being alone and the sense of getting anxiety, assuming that people are judging the subject. Lastly, the third perspective would portray the actual reality of what the subject is doing by showing a CCTV-like visual images.

Furthermore, in terms of the scenario, the first scenario would be in class. This portrayal was for the purpose of emphasising the fact that some people would still feel as if they are isolated and alone, though they are surrounded by their friends. Moreover, the second scenario would be walking alone in the alley, as a means to portray the anxiety that often presents while walking alone, victimise other pedestrian thinking that they judge the person, which would cause the person to have low self-worth. Lastly, the third scenario would be at home, because home is a place where people often be relax or to think more deeply about what happened within that day as well as about self.

As for the audio of the first point of view perspective, three different poetries from three different scenarios would be delivered by the subject as to depict the feeling and the thought of being isolated. More importantly, the poetry would be in Indonesian language for the purpose of portraying the idea of being foreign.

In addition, my group’s production would provide options of the perspectives within a scenario and the audience would be able to freely select the perspectives while still leading the audience to follow and finish the story in the third scenario.
