The marks for the last submission work has been available on the google drive. I was expecting a decent mark but I wasn’t expecting such decent a mark; so overall I was really glad to get this mark and this had motivated me to do better.

During the workshop, we watched several rough works of the fellow students. I’ve noticed a problem that the audio of the interview has all been too long. I usually lost track of their interview while listening and watching. From this, I know that mine must be simple and condensed in the editing of the audio response of my subject. I must try to get my audiences constantly interested.

I came up with some interview questions during the class:

  1. Tell me something about yourself.
  2. Give me a list of your fields of interest.
  3. You are an international student. How has it been like, studying overseas? Could you use one word to conclude your life here?
  4. Use a metaphor, what would you compare yourself to? And why?
  5. How would you spend a day in the most ideal situation?*

This is only a rough copy, I still need more time to think about it.

Another thing we did was the “Narrative Structure Exercise“.

Also, after the workshop, I think that if my video only includes a recording of a interview with some found footages in i, it will be boring. I’ve decided to put in a music video at the end of my work. I hope it will blend in well with the video. The song that I chose is a Beijing rap song produced by Peter, who I will be interviewing and introducing in my video. There’s the lyrics (in both Chinese and English translation) for the song that I’m going to use:

五环之歌—北京,墨尔本

我从北京,来到墨尔本。

是个建筑学生,天天画图,感觉压根儿没闲工夫。

墨尔本,就像北京。

是个方块儿,就是没套上一环二环。

我家就在,五环边。

开车一圈两圈三圈儿就能兜到六环边儿。

啊,五环,你比四环多一环。

啊,五环,你比六环少一环。

“The Fifth Ring Road: Beijing, Melbourne”

From Beijing, I came to Melbourne.

An architecture student.

Draw design drafts everyday. Got no leisure time.

Melbourne, just like Beijing.

The map looks like a rectangle, except it has no “Ring Roads.”

My home is right beside the Beijing “Fifth Ring Road.”

Drive cars, one loop, two loops, three loops, can me get to the “Sixth Ring Road.”

Ahh, The Fifth Ring Road, you got one more ring than the Fourth.

Ahh, The Fifth Ring Road, you got one less ring than the Sixth.
