Two things: small film festival and sound recording practise.

#1. I was the second one to present my PB2 video (so nervous… 🙂 ). Despite the fact that I have done screenings of my work before, this was the first time here, in a complete strange environment. Everyone’s video was awesome that I can learn so much from them. I even tried to re-watch some of them in their blogs just to pick out their brilliant ideas for learning. I think screening is a great way for us to keep up the pace in terms of the quality of our own work and share ideas in order for better learning.

#2. This time, I realised how important it was for me to improve my English proficiency as my second language. It was a little hard to grasp the lecturer’s instruction with his pace of talking and the accent; so I might have not done the exact thing that was required during the recording exercise. We used “Zoom Handy Recorder H2n” for the exercise and the recording effect was really distinctive compared to the recoding I’ve done with my iphone. And that was amazing.

During the exercise, I was in pair with Rachel, being a little bit late in the room after the recording in field because of the technical problems. I guess exercises like this and Haiku are perfect warm-up little projects to get us interested, exploring the aspects of media production ourselves. Four weeks in university with project deadlines “haunting” us, I realise that university is all about self-motivated learning. It is a positively active behavior; and due to the state like this, it occurs to me that I really have a thirst for knowledge deep down inside me at this age, and how much time I have wasted during the past eighteen years. I should get my research started now to widen my horizon.
