Back At It With The Blog Posts

It’s been a while since I’ve used this blog so here’s my attempt at writing a decent blog post after several months.

New semester, new studio.

And in this case, I’m in This Is Serial which, in collaboration with Screenwriting students, is all about web series and (hopefully) being able to create one by the semester’s end. After having spent an entire semester being exposed to a different kind of media, I thought it was time for me to get back to what I’m really into – Film & TV.

And yes, I know, this doesn’t fall into that category, but one of the things that film & TV can both do is tell stories and this studio is an opportunity to also do that, but the difference being how it’s presented. I also thought it’d be nice to work on an actual script and bring it to life. I haven’t done something like that or worked with a collective to bring a narrative from script to screen in a really long time. And these are some of the things that I’m looking forward to the most in the studio.

From what I’ve heard of past studios that were like This Is Serial, I know that it may not be possible to actually create a fully established web series due to circumstances. And if you really think about it, having twelve weeks, which is actually only eleven because the first week is usually introductory, to create narrative videos isn’t really a lot of time when you take into consideration the multitude of things you have to do from pre- to post-production. However, in spite of this, I hope to still make something, even if it’s a single episode.

But to close this it’s-a-new-sem-so-here’s-an-intro-to-a-new-studio blog post, regardless of the fact that making a complete web series is currently on limbo, I’m still looking forward to what this studio has to offer and collaborating with people.
