Live notes from the unlecture:

Corporate data base is the most important element of a business institution; social media has allowed an inversion of this; a reversion of models

New nodes still flourish amongst networks despite the diminishing of hubs; how different search engines have become more popular than others such as Google over Yahoo

The internet has no edge and will never fill up; differentiates from other medium through nodes which connect to other elements of the internet; preferential attachment is when some nodes prefer to join to others (i.e blogging about movies and linking to imdb) and getting links to your blog creates an enthusiasm for users, for recognition has that affect; skull free networks; google is a type of short term link; a combination of nodes creates a hub and the nodes become part of them; by definition, hubs have weak connections which means they are effective in joining nodes and creating small world networks (hubs with lots of loose connections and other bits with strong and loose connections and because of this, it is easy to find known and unknown networks); a structure will always emerge given those conditions and no-one knows this structure until it emerges; the structure pre-defines the content; Kevin Bacon is a hub because he is a journey act who has been in lots of films
