During week 6’s workshop, we did a long take video with a theme of “misunderstanding” in groups. The biggest difficulty was to plan out the whole scene and film it smoothly without any mistakes. Since it was such a short and relaxing video, it didn’t take us too many tries to get it down. This experience got me deeply interested in long take videos and I started finding some high quality long take scenes in movies.

This countdown video on Youtube caught my attention. All these scenes showed in the video are mind-blowing. The difficulties contained in these scenes are unimaginable. It is astonishing how they managed to arrange so many actors and behind the scene workers to all work together. It’s a tough job not only for the actors but also for the photographer, just one wrong step can ruin the whole footage, especially for fighting scenes, all the people falling down, flying away, walls crashing and chairs breaking all increases the difficulty of filming.

Doing a long shot video can not only improve media making skills but also gaining more knowledge. It was a fun experience to have and an interesting topic to explore.
