Today’s lecture we were asked to draw up a graph that reflected on our progress over the semester.

I stuffed my graph up pretty bad (and by that I mean it was completely illegible), so I’m choosing to write down my experience instead.

Technical– I’m pretty proud of myself. I entered this course having little to no technical skills, and would panic each time I had to open Premiere Pro and wait 5000 hours for it to load. Now, though there is still much more room for progression, I can safely say that I can use Premiere with ease. I’ve learned so much about cameras, and audio work and am really excited to see where all my newfound skills take me in the future.

Practice-I’ve become a lot better at listening to feedback this semester. Rather than feeling anxious whenever I’ve done something wrong or that needs more work, I’m able to calmly take on feedback and implement it in the next project.

Conceptual– I was always pretty good at creating concepts and ideas, but pretty bad at making them a reality. This class has helped me plan out my concepts properly, allowing myself to describe them in more detail and work on them until they are fully realised.

Professionalism– While I’ve always thought of myself as professional, I’ve still always hated working as part of a team. This semester I’ve learned how to sketch out ideas, plans and create media in a group without wanting to either do the bulk of the work or leave it up to someone else.

In short, I’ve come a long way this semester. I’ve achieved way more than I thought I would, something I only realised while making this graph. I’m really pleased with myself and the course, and am excited to see where it takes me next semester.
