UNRAVELLING THE REAL

Introspection

‘Introspection’ is a short documentary which explores the challenges that young adults face when transitioning from adolescence into adulthood. This film positions the audience to examine the qualities, beliefs, insecurities and interests that form the identities of each of the four young adults, while also asking the viewer to reflect on how and why their own judgements formed.

I chose to focus my documentary around this topic as I think it’s important for young adults to recognise that they are not alone in their emotions or experiences during this stage of life. This has further prompted me to adopt some poetic attributes within my piece as to mirror the feelings of uncertainty and doubt that are frequently encountered throughout this period of time.

Making this film has taught me that documentary as a form extends far beyond my initial presumptions. Documentary has the ability to be fluid and expressive, when to begin with I perceived documentary to only consist of dry, informational content that adhered to the expository mode. Documentary in reality, has the capacity to challenge and inspire people from all walks of life.

I hope you enjoy watching !! :))
