Getting Into Character

2020

Homecoming- Irene Rizopoulos

‘Homecoming’ is a short film about Evie Jones who receives a letter in the mail from her father in London which contains an audition application for her dream dance company. Having given up on her dream for years and recently losing her job at her local café in Australia, she lacks the motivation and self-belief to take up this opportunity. Finally, through a phone call with her younger brother that triggers a significant childhood memory, she finds the courage to pack her bags and move back to London to follow her dreams.

To successfully produce ‘Homecoming’ I undertook the processes of pitching my ideas to two industry professionals, writing and formatting a script, as well as filming, directing and editing the film. Through conducting this assignment I learnt a lot about building strong and successful characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the creative process and seeing my ideas come to life.
