sketch 3

This week I learned what is exactly precarity meaning. Precarity is not only just simplify unstably but also connecting the environment. According to Stewart (2012) precarity can be defined as an emergent situation, plurality, movement, imperfection, immanence, incommensurateness. In addition, I also recognize that precarity can happen in everywhere. As this specific topic, that was a precarity thing pops up in my mind. Exemplify, pollution, nowadays, there are a lot of people driving a car in the world. In this case, when people driving a car, they export a lot of carbon monoxide to the Earth. That makes a lot of damage to the Earth, such as ozone layer destruction and so on.

However, my video elucidates the idea of precarity is not only connecting to the environment but also it is very important. After I finished my video I think we need to protect vegetation. That was a sandstorm in the past few days. I suddenly recognized that a sandstorm can be very harmful to the environment. Therefore, I think I ignoring how important of greening environment. That’s why I film the plant. However, when I was filming that plant, I found out that the flower can be fall from the tree by the wind. In this situation, I defined it as an uncontrollable phenomenon and also I memorized that Stewart (2012) was mentioned that precarity can be a tiny change and barely unperceived.

To reflect my job, I think I can do this media in a lot better ways in terms of using a professional facility to film how the flower falls from the tree, such as slow down the camera and maybe next time when sandstorm came, I can film it just in terms of showing how sandstorm make damage to the environment. According to my peer’s feedback, I can film even more details on the flower and use a different angle to film the tree.

This week I learned a lot about sounds and I pretty enjoy it! In addition, I found a very interesting point from the weekly reading” not only do human beings not form a separate imperium unto themselves; they do not even command the imperium, nature, of which they are a part.”(Bennett p.27). I think it is a very good point because human is a part of nature and we have this duty to protect the environment. Also, everything can be vibrant. It depends on how we organize them, exemplifies record their own sounds and use those sounds to make a piece artifact. Furthermore, after I go through the weekly reading, I discovered that sound is a very powerful material. There is one more point that surprised me everything is equal not matter it is perfect or not. I think it is very interesting. However, I decided to make an audio piece about the wind because I think the wind is very natural and I think it will be very interesting if I take it as my topic.

I think the wind can be vibrant because when I edit my recording and I did some research about wind sounds. I found out that different types of wind can give people a different feeling, for instance, typhoons, normal wind.

I think my audio still has a lot of space to enhance. For example, go somewhere with has typhoon and record those sounds and we can see the big differences between typhoon and the wind, and maybe I can try to edit those audio pieces with more sense of depth. I talked with my classmates about those ideas and they did give me some feedback. They think it is a good idea but need to make it more sense of depth.

This is my video link:

That was my first class in seeing the unseen. I found out that was a very interesting class and I was very enjoy it! The weekly reading is very meaningful for me. As the weekly reading mention. I learned that landscapes can be anything. In addition, I think the reading says in the word ”Anthropocene”, the connection between humans and the environment(Tsing, Swanson, Gan Bubandt, 2017). Those points are very true because human is the biggest issue to the environment and humans destroy the Earth every moment. For example, in my video, we can see there was so much rubbish in the mountain.

Furthermore, When I walk in the park, I pay more attention to the environment. The park was built in 2001 and called SHIYALING park, and it was made by a real estate company but the company hasn’t rebuilt for 22 years as can be seen from the stone and environment. I also discovered that there were so many garbages on the mountain and I could not believe that because the mountain has a very good view. when people climbing the mountain they ate food and they just drop the package on the other side. even though, there were some chemical fertilizer jute bags. This means when people finished their job by giving chemical fertilizer to the trees they just left that bag in the mountain. However, I found that people are the biggest threat to the Earth. Additionally, I thought that might be very difficult to find unseen things in my daily life. However, that was not that hard as I thought. According to my mate’s feedback, I think next time I will try to find more different things. The key thing is to pay more attention and be more patient to see this world.
